Spey Creek Lodge welcomes you.
Your hosts are Neroli and John McBride. John is originally from the USA and came to NZ on holiday. John fell in love with the country.. and a gal! His New Zealand born wife, Neroli is a South Islander who has travelled extensively through-out the world, returning to make Kaikoura her home.
TEXAS IN NZ. Neroli and John invite you to make the journey to their “Little Slice of Texas” . At this private “retreat ranch” in Kaikoura, you can experience firsthand why a day at their “office” is just “another day in paradise”. Fly in by helicopter, drive your own vehicle or they can organise your transfers.

SUSTAINABILITY.
We have made a commitment to the New Zealand environment to help maintain a clean and green New Zealand. To be mindful of climate change and the country, and to play our part in, we are making sure to preserve and increase our native forests, to maintain a pest and weed control system and continually monitor and aim to reduce our impact on the environment. We have a zero waste policy.
We are proud so far of our commitment to sustainability and were excited to receive the Enviro Gold award from Qualmark for our commitment to being a sustainable luxury activity with accommodation set amongst an area of natural beauty.
Spey Creek supports local suppliers and charities here and abroad. Such as The Westpac Rescue Helicopter , Coastguard Kaikoura, St Judes Children’s Hospital.
Where possible we utilise the skills local craftspeople.
We produce our own electricity through a small hydro system, taking water from one of own creek and returning it to the natural waterways of Spey Creek. We used home farmed timber to build our accommodation minimizing the impact of transporting timber long distances. We harvest the pure rain water and are monitoring our carbon levels working towards CarbonZero
