Head north from Christchurch through the wide-open Canterbury plains and surf beaches of North Canterbury. Take time to taste the award-winning flavours of the Waipara wine and food scene before driving through the coastal ranges to visit and explore Kaikoura.

Enjoy your encounters with seals, dolphins, whales and albatross before heading to Spey Creek Lodge to relax for a couple of days. Here you can stretch your legs, seek out one of the numerous waterfalls, watch the native fantail flirt along the trails with you and listen for bellbirds on a mountain walk, before enjoying the nights dark sky.
